Xiaomi launches a new range of low-cost smart phones in the Indian market

New Xiaomi smartphone

China has been flooding the Indian market with different products and it intends to do the same with the launch of a range of smart phone handsets called Mi3 (nothing to do with the eponymous Mission Impossible), Redmi IS and, Redme Note. A great thing about these phones is that they intend to target people who like to use sleek phones with the great joys of apps and features but can’t afford higher end phones from Apple, HTC, Samson or LG. In fact the new phones from Xiomi will be quite cheaper and may give these expensive phones a run for their money. Despite higher-and features the cheapest Xiomi phone is going to cost around Rs. 7000 and the costliest is going to be around Rs. 14,000.

Worried that Xiaomi is an obscure brand especially when everybody seems to be carrying an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy or HTC or even Google Nexus? Xiaomi is a very known brand in China is just that they don’t sell their phones directly and it is the first time they are doing this.

These handsets come with premium looks, three layers of thermal graphite and unlike the plastic frames that come with other low-cost phones, this one comes with an aluminium-magnesium alloy frame.

Xiaomi M3 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and its 5-inch IPS display comes with 1080p resolution and the display looks great from all feasible viewing angles. It comes with the same chipset that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (American version), quad core QUALCOMM Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz. In fact, Google Nexus 5 and SonyXperia Z1 also come equipped with the same chipset. But these devices can cost you anywhere between Rs. 25,000-30,000. The 16 GB memory that comes with it is not expendable yet. It also comes with 2 GB RAM.

Camera, yes it comes with a rear camera of 13-megapixels that’s quite good for a phone.

Here are the Xiaomi Mi3 suspects in a nutshell:

  • Google Android version 4.4 KitKat
  • 5 inch display
  • 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution
  • 2.3 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor
  • Adreno 330 GPU
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 16 GB internal memory
  • 13 MP rear camera
  • 2 MP front facing camera
  • 3050 mAh battery
