Will Windows Edge be available on other operating systems also?

Microsoft Edge going open source

So far Microsoft-Windows-based web-browsers are the only browsers that can be used in just one operating system – Windows. Otherwise, almost all web browsers can be used in multiple operating systems; you can even use Safari in Windows. Microsoft is planning to change that. With the core JavaScript Chakra being made open source, according to this Windows blog, soon the latest web browser from Microsoft, Windows Edge, might be available on multiple operating systems.

In case you haven’t yet upgraded to Windows 10, Edge is a new browser that is being shipped with the latest Windows version. It’s a mix of a browser and the traditional Windows Explorer and is known to be much better than Internet Explorer. The ChakraCore will soon be available on GitHub.
