With the Prisma app you can turn your selfies into artistic paintings using its long list of paintings filters.
Are you tired of posting your regular selfies on Facebook and Instagram? Now you can introduce a twist by using photo filters in the Prisma app that makes any selfie or for that matter any photograph look like a painting done by Picasso or any other world-renowned artist like Van Gogh, Levitan and many more.
This Tech Insider review of the Prisma app explains, step-by-step, how you can turn your selfies and regular photographs into artistic paintings. Currently the app is available just in iOS but it may soon be available on Android. It may also not work in certain countries or in particular versions of iPad.
With the usual filters that come with Instagram and other mobile phone camera apps you can just change the hue and colouring of the photographs. But with the Prisma app you can actually turn them into artistic paintings.
The app uses the concept of Google’s Deep Dream algorithm. It uses neural networks and artificial intelligence and converts selfies and photographs into artistic paintings by famous painters. The user interface seems to be inspired by the Instagram interface.
How do you convert your selfies and photographs into artistic paintings using the Prisma app?
It’s very simple. The Prisma app is free to download on your iPhone or iPad. Once you have installed it you can use the inbuilt camera to click the photographs or selfies and then let your imagination run wild. As mentioned above, there is a long list of inbuilt paintings filters that you can run your selfies and photographs through. You can also use existing selfies and photographs and turn them into paintings. Even if you have your photographs in an Android camera, you can move them to your iOS device for the time being, import the selected selfies and photographs into the Prisma app and then apply the appropriate artistic painting filter.
