If the bezel around your smartphone has been annoying you there is good news for you: the new Xiaomi Mi Mix has practically no bezel. There is just a thin frame to hold the screen and nothing else. When you use the phone, it is as if you are holding the complete screen. Here is the video of the new Xiaomi Mi Mix that should soon be available on the shops nearby:

It actually looks quite gorgeous, at least in the video. Normally Xiaomi phones have that cheap look, which is completely missing in the video above. Mi Mix is being touted as a “concept phone” – it intends to set a trend of smartphones with no bezel, or very thin bezel. The Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone has an edge-to-edge 1080p LCD, 6.4-inch screen. The functional screen covers 91.3% of the available surface space. Consequently, the earpiece and the infrared proximity sensor have been removed from the top. It doesn’t mean the sounds are missing. These features have been replaced by a mechanism that allows the microphone to be placed behind the screen so that you can hear the sound during your calls. If you crave to hear technical terms, it is called cantilevered piezoelectric actuator. It probably uses software instead of hardware to communicate sound, but I could be wrong.

Here are some basic specs of the new Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with 2.35GHz speed
  • For 4GB or 6GB RAM
  • 128GB or 256GB internal storage
  • Quick charge 3.0
  • 16 megapixels rear camera
  • 5 megapixels facing camera
  • HD audio playback
  • Fingerprint reader
  • GSM/HSPA/LTE network connectivity
  • Dual Sim with Nano Sim
  • 6.4 inches screen size with 108 0 x 2 040 pixels
  • Strangely, no microSD card slot (maybe due to the thinness of the phone)
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • Battery 4400Mah

As you can see by the specs, Xiaomi Mi Mix is quite a nice phone. Why would one buy it? It would mostly be because of the screen size – 6.4 inches, which is quite big. Also, the attraction of using a phone with almost non-existent bezel.
