Normally with instant messaging, or for that matter any sort of messaging whether you use text messages, chat programs or emails, once your message is gone, it is gone. No longer remains the case with a Telegram instant messaging app.
In Telegram, according to this update, you can edit the message even after you have sent it. That’s right, you can edit the message even when the message is gone. This is a great news for those who are in the habit of sending wrong messages unintentionally and then regretting.
Hopefully this feature will also be introduced in other instant messaging apps like WhatsApp.
But the thing is, if you can edit the message that you have already sent, it means, considering you cannot remotely access someone’s phone, the message is somewhere in the server and it is being displayed live on all the devices receiving the message. It may mean that while you see the message on your mobile phone, it is not actually on your mobile phone, it is on the server. So when you are editing messages even after you have sent them, you’re actually editing the messages that are on the server and when they are edited, they are refreshed on people’s mobile phones. At least this is what I understand.
WhatsApp on the other hand, saves no messages on the server, so it won’t be possible to edit messages even after you have sent them in WhatsApp.
