The new Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone will be waterproof and unlike, strangely, it’s recent predecessors, it will also have a microSD card slot. Its previous versions, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge were neither waterproof nor they came with a microSD card slot. Both these features were present in Galaxy S5 which was launched back in 2014.
Samsung Galaxy S7 will come with a 5.1-inch display, the same as last year’s S6. Its advanced version though, S7 Edge, will have a 5.5-inch screen, with a curved display as it is being used in multiple smartphones by Samsung. According to the initial reports, the Edge version was supposed to come in a 5.7-inch variant but later on it was denied. Both Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will have bigger batteries and better cameras with a totally revamped processor. The microSD card slot will be able to accommodate cards up to 200 GB. Aside from being waterproof, S7 may also be dustproof, according to the sources.
The screen resolution of Samsung Galaxy S7 will be the same that comes with the Super AMOLED screens, at 1440 x 2560 quad HD. A great feature might be the always-on display (AOD) functionality; it will give you a “glanceable” screen so that you can have a look at the updates and basic information without switching your phone on. You will be able to use your Samsung Galaxy S7 as a digital watch that you can place in front of you. This new functionality will use 1% of the battery per hour.
The waterproof smartphone was first introduced by Sony and it was a great hit by people who like to take photographs near water bodies. Besides, phones and other gadgets accidentally falling into water has been a great problem and hundreds of blog posts and videos have been uploaded telling people how to deal with the tragedy. So if your phone is waterproof and if it accidentally falls into a bucket or get washed in the washing machine, there might be no reason to worry.
Samsung Galaxy S7 is supposed to come with a better camera although it has brought down the megapixel count to 12. A nagging problem faced by smartphone users is that they often have to click photographs at varying lighting conditions. This problem seems to have been tackled in the Samsung Galaxy S7 phone with an improved low-light performance, although it is yet to be confirmed officially.
The battery will be bigger. S7 and S7 Edge will have 300mAh and 3600mAh batteries respectively. You will be able to charge the batteries wirelessly in 2 hours and 2.2 hours, respectively.
But the biggest and the most expected features of Samsung Galaxy S7 are that it is going to be waterproof and it is going to come with a microSD card slot with an ability to use a 200 GB card.
