You may need to reboot your Mi Pad in recovery mode if you want to install a custom ROM or if you want to install a utility or a file that cannot be installed using the standard Android interface that comes with your Mi Pad.

For example, suppose you have is a zip that you would like to install but you cannot install zip files running the normal Android MUI interface that comes with Mi Pad. In order to do that, you need to reboot your Mi Pad in recovery mode. When you reboot in recovery mode, if you have the needed file and if you have it stored in the root folder of your internal storage, it asks you whether you would like to install the file and you can install it.

Needed to learn how to reboot my Mi Pad in recovery mode in order to get root access

There was a reason why I needed to know how to reboot my Mi Pad in recovery mode: I wanted to run the f.lux app on my Mi Pad and in order to run f.lux you need root access to your device.

Wondering what is f.lux?

It’s a software utility  that allows you to filter out the infamous blue light from your computer screen or from your mobile phone. In the evening and at night, the blue light that comes from your electronic devices can disturb your circadian cycle and you may find it difficult to fall asleep. This is why people are constantly looking for solutions  that can filter out the blue light.

Anyway, I will write about this topic some other day, because right now I’m talking about how to reboot your Mi Pad in recovery mode. Unfortunately, in Mi Pad, f.lux doesn’t work even after getting the root access – maybe there is some screen issue.

When I was looking for a solution on how to reboot my Mi Pad in recovery mode, at most of the places they have suggested  pressing the key combination (before doing this shut off your Mi Pad completely by long-pressing the power button)

Power Button + Volume Down Button

No, this doesn’t work. This shows a strange sort of monkey on the screen and tragically, the monkey doesn’t go anywhere and you have to force-restart your Mi Pad.

On the other hand, if you press this key combination

Power Button + Volume Up Button

this works!

So, if you want to know how to  reboot your Mi Pad in recovery mode, just press the button combination: Power Button + Volume Up Button

and your Mi Pad reboots in recovery mode.
