Things haven’t been going great with Facebook India. First Facebook’s Free Basics was banned in India and then one of the Facebook directors, Marc Andreessen commented that India’s anti-colonialism attitude was devastating the country’s economy, triggering massive backlash on social media. And now Facebook India’s managing director, Kirthiga Reddy has resigned. She had been the managing director of Facebook India for the past 6 years. She will be moving back to the US. She will be working at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

Is Kirthiga’s resignation an aftermath of Facebook’s failure to introduce and implement Free Basics in India that was being opposed by Internet activists for being against the spirit of net neutrality? Not necessarily because she was not directly involved with the Free Basics campaign. She declared her resignation in the under-mentioned Facebook post.
