LG V20 launched in India: price and specifications

The price of the LG V20 smartphone that was launched in India on December 6, 2016 is Rs. 54,999. The pricetag of Rs. 54,999 shows that it’s a higher-end smartphone. Though, some websites are also listing the price as Rs. 59,990.

The smartphone is available across India and you can also exclusively purchase it on Amazon. It runs on Android Nougat straight out-of-the-box. If you are a music fan you will be happy to know that LG is giving Bang & Olufsen headphones for free along with the device. Even otherwise too, whoever listens to the sound has given it a thumbs up for its excellent audio performance.

The smartphone is not waterproof or water resistant and that might be a bummer especially for a higher-end phone which is so expensive.

Initially it is launching the 64GB storage in India. You can use a microSD card to expand the internal space to 256GB.

Just like any other higher-end phone these days the LG V20 runs on a Quadcore 2.15 GHz Snapdragon 820 processor. For extra graphic power LG has also added Adreno 530. This is the standard possessor coming with expensive phones these days.

It has a 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera and the rear camera has a dual-colour LED flash. There is another 8MP camera sensor at the back to give you a 135-degree wide-angle images.

The power button also acts as a fingerprint sensor.

To make the latest iPhone owners jealous LG V20 has the good old 3.5MM headphone jack along with a USB-C charging port that may in future also be used as a headphone jack.

This is the camera with a big screen. It is 5.7 inches (14.48 cm) with 1440×2560 pixel 515 PPI display. It has an IPS LCD capacitive multi-touchscreen display with 16M colours and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 4. People are wondering why LG hasn’t used Gorilla Glass 5 especially when it is available, but the company says that it has used a thicker glass which more than compensates for the extra solidity in Gorilla Glass 5.

There is a second screen at the top with 160×1040 pixels display. The second screen is for notifications and other usability functions.

The removable battery is Li-Ion 3200mAh. The benefit of having removable battery that you can keep multiple batteries with you: when your smartphone has run out of its juice, instead of charging it, you can simply replace the battery.

Something very new about this smartphone is that its back cover can be opened without shutting down the phone. As you can see in the pic below…

there is a button on the side that you can press to open the back cover very easily.

The phone comes in a metallic body with an aluminium shell and unlike many other contemporary phones, it does not have a unibody design. According to the details by the company, the LG V20 passes a military drop tests but these tests can only be carried out if you actually drop your phone and see if it breaks or not. The body of the phone is 6.6mm thick and it weighs around 174g.

It has Dual SIM Nano with both 3G and 4G.

Not being water resistant can be a big drawback but among its contemporaries and within the price range of Rs. 50,000-Rs. 70,000 it’s quite a decent phone.

Here is a nice video review of  the LG V20 smartphone:
