As it has been the trend, the latest iPhones arrive a bit late in India. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were launched in the US in September and in other regions a bit later than that and it was being speculated, seemingly correctly, that the latest Apple phones would be launched in India somewhere around October. Now you can buy iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus from Indian retailers, according to various reports appearing.
The starting price for an iPhone 7 in India is a paltry Rs. 60,000. The entry-level iPhone 7 will have 32 GB of internal memory. If you want more memory, there is a 128 GB version of iPhone 7 that will cost you Rs. 70,000. In Rs. 80,000 you can get an iPhone 7 that is 256 GB. Understandably, the iPhone 7 Plus is a bigger phone. Its entry-level price begins at Rs. 72,000 for 32 GB of space. 128 GB is Rs. 82,000 and 256 GB is Rs. 92,000.
As you may already know, the latest iPhone 7 doesn’t come with a traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack port. If you want to enjoy music, you will have to buy its wireless earplugs called Airpods and a pair of Airpods may cost you Rs. 15,400. Obviously you would go for an iPhone 7 or one of its variants only if you have lots of cash to spare just for the smartphone. The box although, may also contain an adapter that may allow you to use your usual 3.5 mm headphones or earplugs with the latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
There are also some early-bird offers that may give you some discounts but this is more or less the price that you are going to pay for your favourite iPhone device.
Flipkart is the official iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus seller in India, as reported here, although you can get it from other websites also. For example, Snapdeal has partnered with a major credit card provider to offer you lucrative deals on the purchase of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
A big reason why people in America and other Western countries are able to upgrade their smartphones easily is because there are often attractive packages from carriers. The same trend is coming to India and in near future you may be able to get hold of your favourite-but-expensive smartphones easily for affordable monthly instalments.
For example, Reliance Jio is offering iPhone 7 iPhone 7 Plus with its SIM pre-installed. The only problem is that iPhone 7 is a single-SIM smartphone and considering that the quality of calls that you make from your Jio SIM is not very good right now you may be stuck with a phone you cannot use for calling people.
Airtel is in the fray too. For Rs. 19,000 you can get hold of the priced iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and then you have to make a monthly payment. A weird thing about this adjustment is that after one year of using your iPhone 7, you will have to return it despite having paid all this money. So you will have to read carefully exactly what this company is offering.
Admittedly it’s an expensive phone and the Indian market is flooded with much cheaper and sometimes better alternatives. Only those would go for an iPhone 7 who particularly want an iPhone 7.
