As it turns out, multiple agencies in different countries want to hack into your iPhone, and according to this Indian Express report, even the Indian government may have the ability to hack into your iPhone.
You may remember the controversy regarding the FBI wanting Apple to help the bureau to hack into the iPhone of the San Bernardino terrorist. Apple flatly refused. Then the FBI purchased a third-party tool that helped it hack into the iPhone. Since then, many organisations and agencies have claimed to have been able to hack into various iPhones belonging to different criminals and terrorists.
According to the Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad a tool for mobile forensics has been developed. In response to a question on encryption in the Rajya Sabha he said, “As part of a programme, a tool for mobile forensics has been developed, which handles smartphones including Apple phones.”
So if a tool has been developed that “handles” smartphones including Apple phones, it does mean that the Indian government has the ability to hack into your iPhone. He also said that India is closely following the ongoing developments between Apple and the FBI on the privacy issue and to what extent the government should be able to access mobile phones of its citizens.
