You can now schedule Instagram posts in advance. But you will have to do it through the social media marketing platform Buffer. Although you can schedule Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn posts in advance using Buffer and Hootsuite, it wasn’t possible to schedule Instagram posts and advance.
Right now Buffer doesn’t post automatically, it just sends you a push notification. This is because Instagram doesn’t allow third-party services to post updates on it. Even though it is not automatically posting the scheduled posts on Instagram, this can help you a lot in organizing your social media marketing campaign to a great extent.
Why would you want to schedule your Instagram posts in advance?
Time is of great value when you post content on social networking websites. Posts appear very fast on people’s timeline and you don’t want your friends and followers to miss your updates. You would like to post your updates when most of your friends and followers are online.
But you can’t be monitoring your friends and followers all the time. Although, as mentioned above, Buffer can automatically post the updates that you have scheduled in advance for Twitter and Facebook, it cannot do the same with Instagram. With the notification you can manually post the saved updates when the time is right.
Once the scheduled time has come Buffer will send you a notification. Once you tap on the notification, your photo will be automatically loaded into Instagram and your pre- written caption will be copied onto your phone’s clipboard from where you can easily paste it into the Instagram update. Of course the usual statistics will be available within your Buffer dashboard that you can use to improve your social media marketing campaign.
Here is a small video that shows how you can use Buffer to schedule your Instagram posts in advance:
