The NASA astronaut Scott Kelly has spent 340 days in space, aboard the International Space Station and has grown taller by 2 inches during the period. So if you’re worried about your height and you want to grow taller, then go to space. There are a few Russian millionaires who have either gone to space or are trying to go to space, may be many of them are going to space simply because they want to grow taller. If you can’t afford to go to space though then there are exercises that you can do which might be able to help you grow taller (learn more about it here).
According to the official NASA press release during the record-setting one-year mission, the station crew of the International Space Station conducted almost 400 investigations to advance NASA’s mission and benefit all of humanity. Scott Kelly and the Russian astronaut Mikhail Kornienko participated in a number of studies to inform NASA’s journey to Mars, including research into how the human body adjusts to weightlessness, isolation, radiation and the stress of long-duration spaceflight.
After coming back to earth, Scott Kelly seems to be enjoying the feel of gravity. Here is a tweet from him where he shows himself falling into the pool due to the gravity on earth.

So how did Scott Kelly grow taller by 2 inches after spending almost a year in space? As mentioned above, one of the objective of sending these astronauts to space and spend so much time there was to observe the effects of the extraterrestrial lifestyle on the human body and one thing has been clear as soon as the astronauts have landed safely on earth: you grow taller in space. Both the astronauts have grown taller by almost 3% of the actual heights. Why is it so?
It’s because there is no gravity in space. This is not a new discovery. Even previously it has been noticed that people gain height when they go to space. There is no pressure from gravity so the spine gets a chance to grow. Maybe some of our intellectuals and politicians must also go to space to grow their spines.
But there’s a catch. You can go to space and grow taller, but this is not permanent height gain. When you come back to earth, when you come back to reality, the gravity begins to take its toll on your body again and in a few months, you come back to your normal size. Well, that’s a bummer. You spend so much time to go to space to grow taller and then when you come back, the old height is back.
