This is for Android users. It is very critical that you are able to find the IMEI number of your mobile phone when your mobile phone is lost or stolen. Using the IMEI number you can track your phone, block it so that the person who has your phone cannot use it, and even erase confidential data on the lost or stolen mobile phone.
The IMEI number of your mobile phone is a unique identification number using which your mobile phone can be identified anywhere in the world. No other mobile phone in the world has the same IMEI number that your mobile phone has. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identification.
If you haven’t lost your mobile phone and it hasn’t been stolen yet, you can find your IMEI number by typing *#06# (star hash zero six #) on your mobile phone dialer. A pop-up will appear and this is how you can find your IMEI number if you haven’t yet lost your phone or if it hasn’t yet been stolen.
Another way of finding your IMEI number is, go to Settings, then About Phone and then, Phone Identity. There you will find your IMEI number.
But how to find the IMEI number if your mobile phone is lost or if it has been stolen?
If you forgot to take down your IMEI number and now your mobile phone is either lost or stolen, all is not lost. Maybe you’re not going to recover your mobile phone, but at least you can completely render it useless or even if that is not possible, at least you can delete all the confidential data from your lost or stolen mobile phone.
For this tutorial I assume you had an Android mobile phone.
This is how you find your IMEI number without having the mobile phone with you:
Here is the video that explains how to find your IMEI number using a PC or laptop…
Please maximise the video if the contents of the video are not easily visible.
- Access a PC or laptop and go to google.com
- Log in to your Google account (again, I’m assuming you were using the same Google account on your Android mobile phone)
- Go to the Google Dashboard
- Expand the Android tab
- Under this Android tab you will find all the mobile phones and Android tablets that you have connected to your Google account. Here you can also find the IMEI number of your stolen or lost mobile phone.
