Contrary to numerous rumours going around there is no chance of Apple’s flagship smartwatch iWatch hitting the markets this year although they may announce something on September 9 when they launch their new iPhone. Those familiar with how Apple normally launches products aren’t very surprised. After the initial announcement, the iPhone didn’t start selling for more than six months and even the iPad took many weeks before it actually showed up at the counters. The same thing is bound to happen with iWatch – they may announce it on September 9 but it will arrive in the markets early 2015.

According to John Paczkowski of Re/codes,

Sources in position to know tell me it won’t arrive at market for a few months. “It’s not shipping anytime soon,” said one. So when does Apple plan to ship its eagerly anticipated wearable? That’s not clear, but my understanding is that we’re unlikely to see it at retail until after the holiday season — think early 2015.
